Kimberly Reddick is the Managing Principal of Red IP Law, which she founded in 2011 to service corporations that view their brands as the cornerstone of their businesses. She specializes in intellectual property, with an emphasis on domestic and international trademark counseling, licensing, enforcement, clearance, prosecution and litigation. Her trademark portfolio management and enforcement practice spans across a wide array of industries, including computers, electronics, apparel, software, toys, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telecommunications, financial, real estate, health and insurance services. Prior to founding Red IP Law, Ms. Reddick was a Partner at K&L Gates LLP, where she counseled clients on cutting-edge issues in all aspects of trademark, unfair competition, and copyright laws. She was also a Trademark Attorney Advisor with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). With over 15 years of experience, Ms. Reddick serves as outside intellectual property counsel to large and small corporations, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. In this capacity, she counsels clients regarding branding strategies, liability, enforcement, anti-counterfeiting tactics, maintenance and licensing of trademarks and copyrights. A most notable accomplishment was her successful management of the entire global trademark portfolio of over 2,000 marks for a top 50 Fortune 500 retail conglomerate. In addition, she advises clients on a variety of advertising, sweepstakes, Internet, domain name and social networking issues, as well as handles domain name disputes and IP owner disputes on Facebook®, Twitter® and other social networking sites. She also conducts intellectual property due diligence in corporate mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Reddick has significant experience drafting and negotiating complex intellectual property agreements, including licensing agreements, consent and co-existence agreements, assignments, and other related transactions. She also participates in all aspects of trademark and copyright infringement litigation, including initiating and defending actions in Federal Courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, drafting and briefing motions, handling all aspects of discovery, and obtaining emergency relief such as TROs and preliminary injunctions. In addition to her client advocacy, Ms. Reddick is equally committed to developing other lawyers and sharing information with the community at large. More specifically, she regularly shares her knowledge of best practices in intellectual property by writing articles, participating in seminars and mentoring minority attorneys and law students. Her most recent speaking engagements and publications include: Panelist, "Blogs, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn: How to Manage and Protect Your Corporation in Today's Social Media Age", Corporate Counsel Women of Color Annual Career Strategies Conference, October 2010; Outside Counsel Corner, Managing and Protecting Corporate Brand Reputation in Social Media, 2010. She is also active in various professional and civic organizations, including the following: International Trademark Association; National Bar Association (Commercial Law Section); American Bar Association; District of Columbia Bar Association (Intellectual Property Law Section); Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts; Corporate Counsel Women of Color (Contributor); and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated (Diamond Life Member). Ms. Reddick received her B.A. from Dartmouth College and her law degree from George Washington University Law School, where she was a Notes Editor for the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal. She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia.
