Beautiful Gift from God," is the meaning of her Swahili name. Since the age of nine, Ms. May dreamed of becoming an attorney and follow in the footsteps of her father. She attended Howard University, the alma mater of her grandmother and her aunt. Upon completion of her bachelors degree in finance, she accepted a full scholarship to attend the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. At Iowa, she was the only person of color in her joint JD/MBA class. After graduation, the law firm of Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, a firm of over 200 attorneys, offered her a corporate associate attorney position in Chicago. While practicing corporate law, she became more aware of her interests in entertainment. She left the firm to relocate to Los Angeles, CA to pursue her dream. Her experience includes stints at the Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles, CA as a Business Representative in Residuals and later as an Advisor in Entertainment Contracts. She was also the head of Business & Legal Affairs at Codeblack Entertainment. Currently, she has a viable entertainment practice and is based in Los Angeles, CA. She services clients in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. In addition to serving her clients, Ms. May is a film and television producer with several projects in development. Ms. May is active in her community as well. She is the co-founder of Howardwood, a non-profit organization, that links Howard University students and alumni in the field of film and television. Since 2007, she has served as a member of the NAACP Image Awards Nominating Committee and is the 2011 Co-Chair of the Entertainment Law Committee of the John M. Langston Bar Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Diamond in The Raw Stuntwomen's Foundation, the Board of Directors of actor/author Hill Harper's Manifest Your Destiny Foundation, the Executive Board of the Howard University Alumni Club of Los Angeles and the Board of Directors of the National Black Pre-Law Conference. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Ms. May prides herself on her thoroughness and zealous representation of her clients, whether serving as an advisor or negotiator. She has successfully represented a wide-variety of clients in entertainment and in the arts. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing tennis and fashion.
